6-month Anniversary Get-a-way

As part of our 6-month anniversary "celebration" we decided to go ahead and pay off my wedding band and pick it up from the jeweler (Village Jewelers in Nashville, TN). Here is a little view of it. The wheat engraving which is present on my engagement band on the sides is also on this wedding band. It just cannot be seen in this picture. The jeweler was impressed that we found a band that fit the engagement ring so well since it didn't "come" with a matching band. Good, no?

We left Village Jewelers and drove to the Loveless Cafe. The wait was over an hour and a half, so we decided we'd go there another time. William has never been...I've been twice. (Side note: The Biscuit Lady passed away the Monday before...very sad.) We left Loveless and jumped on the beginning of the Natchez Trace Parkway. The Natchez Trace Parkway begins in Bellevue, TN and ends in Natchez, Mississippi. We took most of the short detours off the parkway to get some history on the trail and we stopped at Meriwether Lewis' grave site just off the parkway near Hohenwald, TN. We even stopped at a cute little coffee shop in Hohenwald called Buffalo River Coffee Company which was quite delightful (smoothie for the boy, iced soy chai latte for me)! From there we drove the rest of the way to Florence, Alabama where we checked into our hotel, found a great Mexican restaurant called Rosie's Mexican Cantina and then headed to the Dave Barnes/MuteMath concert at the University of Northern Alabama. The concert was great (as expected) and we had a wonderful time. Sunday we slept in and then found a little hole-in-the-wall pancake house (Tourway Pancake House) just before leaving the Florence area.

It was a wonderful weekend and it was nice just to spend it together. It was the first time since our wedding that we were able to just get away together. We LOVE visiting our friends and family, but there is something about being able to just focus on "us" that is so refreshing!

My beautiful cousin, Jaime Langley, is getting married in about 15 1/2 days (me=bridesmaid) and I couldn't be happier for her!! The next three weekends will be all about her! Yippeee!!
